When Sookie was at the vet to get vaccinated in beginning of June the vet told me that there are really many dogs that are getting diagnosed with Heart n Lung Worm. When I once heard Sookie clearing her throat and I thought Vini lost her breath quicker than usual I decided to get them tested – and they were tested positive for heart worm 🙁
The dogs are now in treatment and fortunately they believe whatever I serve for them is luxury food – so I just give them the pill and they swallow it without even tasting what I served them 😉
On our daily walks they get to play as they usually do but all other kind of outdoor training activity is put on hold for at least two weeks. To avoid the dogs being under-stimulated they are doing tricks. Now both Sookie and Vini can almost do “hand-stand” up against a wall; lift respectively left or right front leg and rear leg without any aid; stand up on rear legs and walk backwards. We are also doing tricks for improving balance skills – standing with four paws in a very small box, or standing on big stones, etc. Fortunately there are so many different tricks that can keep your dog fit and agile and also makes them think 🙂
